Quick Vanilla Milk Ice with Caramelized Sugar

A simple, beginner-friendly breakfast treat that transforms milk, ice, and sugar into a creamy, sweet dish with a hint of caramel flavor using basic tools.

⏱️ 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk (any type)
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • Optional: pinch of salt or vanilla extract for extra flavor

Instructions

  1. In a pan over medium heat on the stove, add the sugar. Cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it melts and turns into a light golden caramel. Be careful not to burn it.
  2. Remove the pan from heat and carefully add the milk (it may bubble up). Stir continuously until the caramel is fully dissolved into the milk.
  3. Return the pan to low heat and warm the mixture for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until smooth and slightly thickened. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, crush the ice cubes into small pieces (use a blender or wrap in a towel and tap with a heavy object).
  5. Pour the cooled caramel milk over the crushed ice in a serving glass or bowl. Stir gently to combine and chill the mixture.
  6. Serve immediately as a refreshing breakfast treat. Total time: about 30 minutes including prep and cooling.
