Quick Vanilla Milk Ice with Caramelized Sugar
A simple, beginner-friendly breakfast treat that transforms milk, ice, and sugar into a creamy, sweet dish with a hint of caramel flavor using basic tools.
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk (any type)
- 1/2 cup ice cubes
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- Optional: pinch of salt or vanilla extract for extra flavor
Instructions
- In a pan over medium heat on the stove, add the sugar. Cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it melts and turns into a light golden caramel. Be careful not to burn it.
- Remove the pan from heat and carefully add the milk (it may bubble up). Stir continuously until the caramel is fully dissolved into the milk.
- Return the pan to low heat and warm the mixture for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until smooth and slightly thickened. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
- In a bowl, crush the ice cubes into small pieces (use a blender or wrap in a towel and tap with a heavy object).
- Pour the cooled caramel milk over the crushed ice in a serving glass or bowl. Stir gently to combine and chill the mixture.
- Serve immediately as a refreshing breakfast treat. Total time: about 30 minutes including prep and cooling.
